Thanks, Mike!

BBCG_MikeBaird_kids_hail_7644 5We had the pleasure of having the Hon. Mike Baird MP along to our newly constructed community garden at Baranbali Ave Seaforth on Thursday morning. We received a grant via the NSW Government’s Community Building Partnership program in early 2012 to construct the garden and Mike has been a strong supporter from the beginning. The much-needed rain he brought with him (hail even!) was also very welcome.

The efforts of our youngest gardeners were soon complemented by the heavens opening just in time for the photo opportunity!

We were really pleased that he liked the garden and endorsed it as a project well worth supporting, as community gardening is a valuable recreational activity that contributes to the health and well-being of the wider community by providing a wide range of environmental, social and educational benefits.

Our gardeners showed Mike the recently constructed garden beds and presented him with a certificate of thanks and a selection of the organic fruit and vegetables from the garden.

From little things big things grow. The bean seedling will soon need a 2m pole for support. Without support, it cannot reach its full potential.
